Boldmere St Michaels Football Club is to celebrate 125 years of existence in the 2008/2009 season.
To help celebrate the fact a committee has been set up to arrange several events during the year. The highlight of the celebrations will be a black tie dinner and dance to be held at Villa Park on Friday October 24 2008 with the night being hosted by BRMB presenter and ex-BSM player Tom Ross.
For this event, in particular, the Club is looking to make contact with former players, management, committee and social members. committee comprising Dave Holvey (current General Secretary), Andy Van-Hagen (current commercial manager), John Lynne (long serving player), Rob Mallaband (current director, ex-player and manager) and Alan Parsons (current director, ex-player and manager) have been fortunate in securing sponsorship for the event from IKON – Document Efficiency at Work and are waiting to hear from former players.
Spokesman Parsons said: "A trawl of recent past players and current social members is taking place but there are so may absentees from that list.
"I know that many of these people still live in the Sutton Coldfield area and will also have further contacts.
"We want this celebration and wish to include as many people from the past as possible along with their ladies.
"I am sure that many of these people will have known Harry Peakman and I am delighted to tell them that Harry is still serving to this day as the club president.
"He joined Boldmere St Michaels in 1943 and since then has fulfilled many roles.
"Player, trainer, manager, secretary, director and chairman.
Despite his age and position Harry is actively involved on match days and is still a magnificent ambassador for the club after an incredible 65 years service."
Any former players who are interested in the night can contact Alan Parsons on 0121 378 3937 or email him on Parso@talk21.com. |
